Nursing Schools in Southern California

The schools below do not cover all nursing schools in Southern California, though we did try to bring here the main ones. We did not also try to rank the top nursing schools in Sourthern California, as we believe the choice of school is a very individual decision, and the parameters for choosing a school vary between individuals. The schools in this lists have each its own nursing programs, for LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner. In the future we hope to add for each school its program list.

University of California, UCLA School of Nursing

The academy is ranked as the number 12 high-performing school in the whole United States as affirmed by the US News and World Report Rankings. It has been founded in 1949 and interestingly, offers a pre-licensure program and post-licensure programs for both BS Nursing and MS Nursing or Phd.

University of San Diego, School of Nursing and Health Science

The school was established in 1947. It is known as a Catholic school but gladly welcomes other religious denominations. At present, it is ranked as the number 47 high performing school in the US by the US News and World Report Rankings.

Cal State LA, School of Nursing

At Cal State LA School of Nursing, you are assured of high quality education with four choices given for the nurse namely primary and acute adult, psychiatric or mental health, primary pediatric or family nursing. Two applications are needed for admission; one for the university and the other for the school.

National University

Loma Linda University, Adventist Health Sciences Center

It was in 1905 when the institute was first established and then in 1949, the School of Nursing was granted authority to pursue the baccalaureate program. It was in 1957 when the Masterís degree in Nursing was also approved. Currently, it is accredited by the National League for Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Point Loma Nazarene University

San Diego State University, School of Nursing

Western University of Health Sciences

Santa Monica College

The Santa Monica College requires it student-applicants to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 and a valid California LVN license together with an IV certification before admission to the RN program. The school offers a ladder program.

Los Angeles Trade-Technical College

With the center, LVNs are given the chance to obtain an RN degree. However, an applicant should have a minimum grade of 2.0 in all pre-requisite subjects.

Moorpark College

If one wishes to pursue higher learning, Moorpark College may be the answer as it provides advanced placement for those who have an average grade of 2.5 in pre-requisite subjects. This condition is applicable to LVNs wishing to earn the RN degree.
